Read How People Feel, Second By Second

Webcam facial-expression coding turns a face into an emotional arc: joy, surprise, sadness and more, tracked across the whole exposure. You see how a spot lands moment to moment, not just an average at the end. No lab, no hardware. Early access, and every response a real verified human.

HOW FACIAL CODING WORKS

From Webcam Frames To An Emotional Arc

With consent, the respondent's webcam captures frames while they watch. A facial-expression model reads each frame for the classic emotion signals, and the platform stitches those per-frame probabilities into one timeline you can align to your stimulus.

01. Webcam Captures Frames

Frames are captured as the stimulus plays, in the browser.

02. A Model Reads Each Frame

Scored for the standard expression set: joy, surprise, anger, sadness, fear, disgust and neutral. Not a single end-of-clip guess.

03. Per-Frame Probabilities

Each frame carries its own emotion probabilities rather than one summary number.

04. Aggregated To A Timeline

Frames become a second-by-second timeline, time-locked to the clip so every peak and valley maps to a scene, frame or claim on screen.

WHAT YOU GET

The Whole Emotional Response, Read Out

Not a mood score at the end, but the shape of the feeling as it happens, tied to the exact moment on screen.

Moment-To-Moment Emotions

Joy, surprise, anger, sadness and more, tracked second by second across the whole exposure. Reads: where feeling rises and falls.

Peaks And Valleys, Mapped

Every high and low is pinned to a timecode in your stimulus, so you know which frame earned the smile and which one lost the room.

Valence And Engagement

One overall read of how positive the response was and how engaged the face stayed: a headline number that sits on top of the arc, not instead of it.

Per-Scene Response

Split the arc by scene or shot and compare, so the edit decision is evidence rather than opinion.

THE RESPONDENT EXPERIENCE

Consent-First, On An Ordinary Laptop

Emotion coding only works when people opt in and the capture is honest. The runner is built to ask first, run in the browser, and be plain about what it does.

Consent First

The respondent is asked to turn on their camera and explicitly agrees before any frame is captured, and can decline and continue the study.

Runs In The Browser

No install and no plugin. A standard laptop webcam and a modern browser are all it takes.

Analysed For Expression

Frames are analysed for expression signals to build the timeline. Handling and retention follow your study's data agreement.

Lighting And Face Check

A quick check confirms the face is framed and lit before timing starts, so the read is not wasted on a dark or off-screen frame.

Mobile Note

Best captured on a laptop or desktop webcam today. Mobile front-camera support is on the early-access roadmap.

Honest By Default

Respondents always know the camera is on. No silent capture and no dark patterns.

APPLICATIONS

Where The Arc Changes The Decision

Any moment-based stimulus has an emotional shape. Emotion coding is at its best where when people feel something matters as much as whether.

Ad And Video Creative Testing

See the emotional arc of a spot: where it grabs, where it sags, and whether the payoff actually pays off, before you commit media.

Content And Trailer Testing

Which cut holds feeling, and which scene is where attention and emotion quietly drop out.

Message And Claim Reaction

The involuntary reaction the instant a claim appears: a flash of surprise, confusion or delight that self-report smooths over.

UX And Experience Moments

The frustration spike at a broken step and the relief at a fix, pinned to a moment in the flow.

ONE STUDY, THREE SIGNALS

Feeling, Attention And Association, Together

Emotion tells you how they felt. Pair it with eye-tracking for where they looked and implicit tests for what they associate: the same exposure, the same verified humans, read three ways in a single study.
